About us (But Really this section should be called “About You” shouldn’t it? But this is what people expect…)
The Village Square was founded in November 2008 by Jake Pearce and Cornelis Boertjens, two guys who are nuts about telling the world how to do Word of Mouth (WOM) marketing because it is the most effective form of marketing. The Village Square has developed a unique 5 step approach to implementing WOM and is specialised in assisting organisations to find their Advocates and work with them to create an ever growing army of people who spread the word about your branded product and/or branded service.
Because of the success of this approach, TVS now operates in 3 countries (New Zealand, Australia and The Netherlands) and will expand in to other key markets in 2011. In New Zealand, The Village Square has a core team of four dedicated WOM Marketing experts:

Cornelis is a highly skilled Marketing Strategist. His diverse business skills focus on building brands and products, growing ambitious (start-up) businesses and managing international expansion. He is also a co-founder of Orangepeel Systems, a company dedicated to helping customers visualize their goals by offering a complete goals setting and visualization software Package “Vision Board Studio”. OrangePeel’s online customer base stretches over 60 countries around the globe and has over 2,000 affiliates selling its flagship product. Cornelis’ focus within TVS is the international expansion of the business and the global roll out of it’s revolutionary Advocate Platform, “Your Village Square” |
Jake Pearce

Jake has a passion for trends & innovation that spans 20 years. He loves helping clients access whole new levels of marketing potential by training or consulting to them on how to use smart, cost effective tools and systems. He likes to make marketing budgets go further and so he has an emphasis on using resource efficient tools like semiotics (a systematic approach to identifying future trends) and co-creation strategies to help organisations to spend less on effective R&D. His unique background of marketing, research and planning gives him a unique creative yet commercially grounded approach to innovation and strategic brand advice. This culminated in him founding Chisel a marketing engineering company in 2001, before completing a management buy out on the company in 2004. He had two years off while learning to trade stocks and now role within TVS as the Innovation and IP Officer is to keep making sure TVS stays on the forefront by consistently releasing new and better ways to implement and measure Word of Mouth Marketing. |
